Beachfront Hotels on Amelia Island

1. Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island

The Ritz has the most generous beach setup of any property. Chairs and umbrellas are set up for guests (no rental fee). Beach attendants set them up for you. Towels are pool-deck. The sand is raked twice daily. The water is calm (it's a south-facing beach on the Atlantic).

Rooms: All ocean or marsh view. Ocean view rooms are 460 sq ft minimum, with balconies. Suites up to 2,200 sq ft. Bathrooms are marble with separate tubs and showers.

Dining: Salt (fine dining, oceanfront, jacket suggested at dinner), Coast (casual, lunch/dinner, beach view), Rita's (ice cream, lunch), Lobby Bar (afternoon tea, cocktails).

Spa: 25,000 sq ft, oceanfront, 25 treatment rooms, separate men's/women's relaxation areas with steam, sauna, and quiet rooms. Book 2–3 weeks ahead in summer.

2. Omni Oceanside Resort

The Omni is the only true full-service resort besides the Ritz. 402 rooms, three pools, kids' camp in summer, on-site dining, beach service. Pool deck was renovated in 2024 and the new adult pool is genuinely good.

Beach access: Walk out the back of the resort, through the pool deck, onto the sand. Beach attendants rent chairs and umbrellas ($40/day for the set) or you can bring your own.

Rooms: Standard rooms are 425 sq ft. Ocean view rooms are 75 sq ft bigger with balconies. Suites are 800–1,200 sq ft. Adjoining rooms available.

Dining: Marsh View Bar & Grill (lunch/dinner, ocean view), Oceanside Bar (cocktails, lunch), Sun Deck (snacks, ice cream). All have kids' menus.

3. Omni Amelia Island Plantation

The Plantation has the most beach of any property on the island. The villas are best for big groups (2–3 bedrooms, full kitchens, balconies, washer/dryer). The resort rooms are 500–700 sq ft and are basically Omni hotel rooms with access to Plantation amenities.

The move: Rent a 2-bedroom villa, walk to the beach (5 minutes), use any of the 4 pools, eat at one of 8 on-site restaurants. Family reunions, golf trips, multi-generational vacations.

Beach service: Free chairs and umbrellas for villa guests. Beach attendants set up at the main beach access (Racquet Park).

4. Elizabeth Pointe Lodge

Elizabeth Pointe is the only B&B-style property with direct beach on the island. 25 rooms in a Maine-coast-style lodge. Big wraparound porches, hammocks, rocking chairs. Breakfast on the porch with ocean view is included.

Beach setup: The lodge provides beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, and coolers for guests. Walk out the back, you're on the sand. No rental fees.

Rooms: 12 oceanfront with private balcony. 8 ocean view. 5 smaller "inn" rooms. Book oceanfront for the experience.

Dining: No dinner service. The library has a wine and beer bar in the evening. Walking distance to 2–3 restaurants for dinner.

5. Amelia Hotel at the Beach

The cheapest true beachfront option on the island. Renovated in 2022. The rooms are small (200–300 sq ft) and basic, but the ocean is right there. No resort, no kids' program, no spa. Just a clean room and the sand.

Beach access: A small deck with stairs down to the sand. Limited chairs (first-come). No umbrella service.

Rooms: 2-queen rooms sleep 4. Mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker. No balcony on most rooms.

Dining: Free continental breakfast. No restaurant. Walking distance to 2–3 restaurants for lunch/dinner.

6. Beachside Motel

Locally-owned motel. 20 rooms. The owners are on-site. It's a bed near the beach, nothing more. Across A1A from the sand (90-second walk). For travelers who'll be on the beach all day and just need a clean place to sleep.

Beach access: Walk across A1A. The motel provides beach chairs and towels.

Rooms: Basic, clean. 1 king or 2 queens. Mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker. No balcony.

7. Beachside Boutique Inn

Renovated in 2024 from a small motel into an 8-room boutique. Adults-preferred. Ocean view from the upper rooms. Breakfast included. New on the scene and a good romantic option for couples who can't afford the B&Bs or the Ritz.

Beach access: Across A1A. Beach chairs and towels provided.

Rooms: Larger than Beachside Motel (350–450 sq ft). Some have balconies. Mini-fridge, Keurig, robes.

8. Omni Amelia Island Plantation — Best for Golfers

Same property as #3 above, framed for the golf trip case. The Plantation has 4 golf courses, including the Ocean Links course (designed by Pete Dye) and the Long Point course. The golf package includes 2 rounds/day, replay rates, and a forecaddie option.
