The Omni Plantation courses
1. Ocean Links (Pete Dye)
The headline course. Pete Dye design, plays along the Atlantic, marsh and ocean views on 14 of 18 holes. The back nine has the most dramatic holes — the 12th is a 200-yard par 3 over the marsh, the 14th is a 400-yard par 4 along the dunes, the 18th is a 450-yard par 4 along the ocean.

- Hole 12: 195-yard par 3 over the marsh. Wind is the variable. The green is small and elevated.
- Hole 14: 400-yard par 4 along the dunes. The fairway runs along the Atlantic. The green is hidden by dunes.
- Hole 18: 450-yard par 4 along the ocean. The fairway is wide but the approach is narrow.
Skill level: Intermediate to advanced. The wind, the marsh carries, the small greens — this is not a beginner course.
Best for: Experienced golfers, bucket-list rounds, special occasions.
2. Long Point
The longest course on the island. Mark McCumber design, plays through the marsh and the maritime forest. The back nine is more open, the front nine is tighter. The 18th is a 520-yard par 5 along the marsh.

Skill level: Beginner to intermediate. The most playable course on the island.
Best for: Couples (one strong, one weak), seniors, beginners, anyone who wants a fun round.
4. Amelia River
The only public course on the island. Tom Jackson design, plays along the Amelia River and through the marsh. The back nine is along the river, the front nine is through the trees. The 18th is a 410-yard par 4 along the river.
Note: Despite the name, this course is at the Omni Plantation but is open to the public. The Plantation's 3 other courses are resort-only (guests or members).
Skill level: Beginner to intermediate. The most affordable option.
Best for: Budget travelers, public course golfers, anyone who wants a quick round.
5. Fernandina Beach Municipal
The municipal option. 3 tee options (forward, middle, back), plays through flat terrain, no water hazards. The greens are small and slow. The fairways are wide. The 18th is a 380-yard par 4.
Skill level: Beginner. The most beginner-friendly course on the island.
Best for: True beginners, families, anyone who wants to golf cheap.
